Poinciana Paper Press All Day Exhibition

THEME: RADICAL ACTS OF PUBLISHING

VENUE:

Poinciana Paper Press
12 Parkgate Rd
Nassau, The Bahamas

EVENT DETAILS:

Step into something unexpected Poinciana Paper Press hosts a dynamic, drop-in exhibition showcasing the bold outcomes of its “Radical Acts of Publishing” incubator. Discover zines, chapbooks, and experimental publications created by a diverse cohort of 22 participants, each pushing the boundaries of what a “book” can be. With hands-on activations, live demonstrations, and opportunities to engage directly with the work, this is more than an exhibition—it’s an immersive, tactile experience of Bahamian literary innovation in motion. Supported by an “Art for Change” grant from the Caribbean Culture Fund, this one-day event is not to be missed.

For six weeks, twenty-two participants took part in a special incubator at Poinciana Paper Press called “Radical Acts of Publishing.” Led by Sonia Farmer and using the new Community Digital Support and Print Production room, the participants gained resources and working knowledge of books as dynamic sites of performance. Through hands-on instruction and demonstrations in design, printing, and binding practices, as well as engagement with the press archive, participants learned about the power of self publishing and built an arsenal of book and binding models to explore how to make their own impactful publications.

This incubator was supported by an “Art for Change” grant from the Caribbean Culture Fund.

PARKING: Limited on Poinciana Paper Press grounds. Carpooling encouraged.
