“We Are Our Own Discoverers” takes inspiration from the enduring spirit of the late Patricia Glinton-Meicholas’ poetry collection Chasing Light, specifically the poem “Staking Claim to Our Souls.” In the act of truth-seeking, this exhibition becomes a courageous journey through shadowed spaces toward revelation, reclamation, and radiance. Amaani Hepburn, Cydne Coleby, Heino Schmid and Matthew David Rahming position themselves as adventurers and discoverers, using their practices to illuminate difficult conversations often left unspoken. Here, light operates as a force that clarifies, confronts, and transforms.
